Rob Chesnut

General Counsel

As General Counsel for Airbnb, Rob is responsible for driving the legal strategy of the company and overseeing the company’s corporate and legal affairs. Rob brings over thirty years of legal experience, spanning the government and high profile e-commerce and technology companies. Prior to Airbnb, Rob served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Chegg’s corporate and legal affairs. Before Chegg, Rob served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for LiveOps, Inc., spent almost ten years with eBay as the Deputy General Counsel in charge of U.S. legal affairs and later as the founder of eBay’s Trust and Safety Department. With extensive experience in the U.S. Justice Department, Rob handled the espionage prosecutions of CIA employees Aldrich Ames and Harold Nicholson, and he received the Department’s John Marshall award for litigation, and the CIA’s Outstanding Service Medallion. When he’s not working, Rob loves to spend time with his family, travel and golf. Rob earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia and is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
